6/16 If Serving Food Is a Crime, Let’s Break the Law Together: Fund-raiser for Orlando Food Not Bombs

Following a recent Atlanta circuit court ruling that upheld a 2006 city ordinance that bans feeding groups larger than 25 people at Lake Eola Park in Orlando, Florida, seven Food Not Bombs volunteers have been arrested–with more to follow!–for sharing free vegan meals with the hungry. Orlando FNB is asking for your support. They need people who are willing to get arrested, to keep up the pressure/resistance, and at $100 per person bail, that’s going to get expensive, so they also need fund-raising and solidarity events.

The FNB folks here in San Francisco who bring you food sharing every Thursday at 7 pm at the 16th Street BART plaza would like to invite you to help here at home. Join FNB at Station 40 on Thursday, June 16 for a solidarity fund-raiser and fun:

4-10 p.m.     Letter writing in support of Orlando FNB
7 pm              Food sharing at 16th Street BART
8:30 pm       Film on crackdown on SF’s FNB in the early days by documentary maker Nick Procaro

Goal: Raise $200, to cover bail for two arrestees in Orlando!!
